When you dream about Hong Kong, what do you see?

"Hong Kong Aesthetic" is an exploration of Hong Kong's underlying visual identity. Over an ongoing decade-long photographic survey (2015–present) captured on 35mm film, the project uncovers and articulates a loose typology of colors, shapes, and patterns that repeat and reiterate throughout Hong Kong's urban landscape.
The images in this project are eye-level, human-scale, familiar and accessible. They don’t require a background or even a prior interest in architecture studies to be understood or appreciated. In curating this project, I wanted to capture the feeling of moving through a city with eyes wide open.
