Bela Vista documents six years of life on the beach, viewed from my apartment window in the infamous Bela Vista Villa on Cheung Chau.

The book is sequenced to follow the light's movements of a single day from sunrise to sunset, condensing hundreds of days across several years into one short passage of time. But since the sand's slate is wiped clean with every change of the tide, there is nothing to distinguish one day from the next.
